Dr. Teguest Guerma is currently working as a founder and CEO of LeDeG Midwifery College, a social enterprise she has established with her own fund since end of 2015. From 2010 to 2015 Dr. Guerma was the first African woman Director General of Amref Health Africa: an African International organization that supports community health in more than 35 countries in Africa.
Prior to that she worked for 21 years for the World health organization in Africa, Asia, Europe and the US. She served as a WHO Africa representative in the UN Head quarters in New York and as WHO Representative in Botswana and Nepal.
As Ass. Director and later as the Acting Director of the WHO Global Program on AIDS she co-led the 3 by 5 Initiative that helped to make antiretroviral drugs available for developing countries. Dr. Guerma started her career as medical doctor in a public hospital in Burundi in 1985 where she diagnosed the first AIDS cases in the country.
She was a UN commissioner in the UN commission on life saving commodities for women and children. She is an awardee of the highest medal of the Government of France: Chevalier of the Legion d’honeur. She is also a member of the Rotary club and several others associations.
Dr. Guerma is the author of several scientific papers.
Dr Guerma is a medical doctor with post graduate degree in infectious diseases. She is also a fellow of the Royal college of Physicians.

Advisor for 23years.
Mrs. Roman G/egzabhier– Administration and Finance Head. Mrs. Roman G/egzabhier has diplomas in Accounting. Later, she upgraded to a degree in Business Education and MA Degree in Organizational Leadership. She has worked in diverse Companies as a Senior Accountant and General Accountants and Admin for over forty years.
Mr. Abere Yekoye -Head of Academic Affairs. Abere earned his first degree in Midwifery and a second degree in Midwifery education. He also holds a master’s public health.He has worked at mekele university as Lecturer,Assistant Professor. and graduate program Coordinator.
